"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." (Genesis 1:1) Period! Or is there some question as to the day the beginning began? Your literal day or God's day as a thousand years or thereabouts? (Psalm 90:4, 2 Peter 3:8) The interpreter still assigns the text as historical, teaching, parable, allegorical, mystical, prophetic, or just good common sense (hermeneutics). Or, that is what your denominational footnote confirms.
